Heaviest Animals on Earth

Average adult weight is one of the most repeatable physical comparisons across species. This ranking uses population-level mass, not the largest individual on record, which appears in the Biggest table. Each figure aggregates field studies, captive records, and museum specimen data.

Sexual dimorphism skews the numbers in many taxa: in cetaceans and pinnipeds, males can weigh twice as much as females. Listed values are composites across both sexes. Species without a consolidated population average appear unranked.
